Judi Bergen reads from Longing to Belong and discusses her writing experience and process

Longing To Belong is a coming of age story about girl who is Jewish.  She doesn't feel like she belongs. The small, gossipy  town is mostly Norwegian. People also believe that her grandfather took money from the bank during the great depression.  This is a recommended read for those who want to know the characters inner lives and how they affect the trajectory of their actions.

About Judi Bergen: I have been published in several literary journals and an essay I wrote  placed in the top five in a National Writers contest . It was about a bachelor farmer who didn’t even own a library card who donated the proceeds from the sale of his farm to our library in Austin.  When I retired I wrote LONGING TO BELONG, It draws the reader into the hidden layers of a family's tragedy shrouded in secrecy.

I have a master's degree in psychiatric social work from the University of Wisconsin.  I've worked as a therapist in inpatient and outpatient mental health settings for over forty years.  For the last ten years I also worked with Hospice patients and their families.
I live in Austin, where my husband and I have enjoyed raising out three children.
