On Wednesday, May 12th at 7:30, Janet Horvath cellist Janet Horvath will discuss the newly revised edition of her book, Playing (Less) Hurt, at Common Good Books.

Any serious musician will tell you that playing music takes a significant toll on the body. Many promising music careers have been derailed by injuries that could have been prevented or were not treated properly. Playing (Less) Hurt is the only book to confront these problems from a professional musician's standpoint with exercises and stretches to enhance skills, improve technique, and prevent injury.

Janet Horvath, associate principal cello of the Minnesota Orchestra (Minneapolis, MN) for more than three decades, is a soloist, chamber musician, writer and award- winning advocate for injury prevention. A trail-blazer in speaking and writing openly about the physical stresses experienced by musicians, she has contributed importantly to the awareness of musicians’ work-related ailments and their prevention.
