A rabbi, an imam, and a pastor walk into a bookstore...

Pastor Don Mackenzie, Rabbi Ted Falcon and Imam Jamal Rahman began working together in Seattle directly following the events of 9/11. They met weekly to present programs sharing their findings and hosted a weekly radio program. Known for their unique blend of spiritual wisdom and humor, the Three Amigos openly address the taboos of interfaith dialogue--the “awkward” parts of each tradition--in order to foster a more authentic conversation. have become known as the Interfaith Amigos.

In 2009, their first book was published, “Getting to the Heart of Interfaith: The Eye-Opening, Hope-Filled Friendship of a Pastor, A Rabbi and an Imam.” A full page article in the New York Times and an appearance on CBS Evening News, plus numerous NPR interviews, led to programs in across the country as well as to several trips to the Middle East and Japan. Their second book: “Religion Gone Astray: What we Found at the Heart of Interfaith” came out in 2011.

The Amigo’s third book, Finding Peace Through Spiritual Practice: The Interfaith Amigos' Guide to Personal, Social and Environmental Healing will be published in July of this year.  The book looks at the specific issues we face in a pluralistic society and the spiritual practices that can help us transcend roadblocks to effective collaboration.
