Common
Good Books is getting loud to celebrate “Thinking Outside the
Squeezebox II.” We’re kicking off with an accordion serenade in the
store at 10:00am, Saturday, September 22, 2012, and following up with a
chance to meet ethnomusicologist and author Marion Jacobson at O’Gara’s
at noon.
Stroll
the aisles of Common Good Books, browsing our shelves and enjoying the
dulcet tones of an accordion flash mob. That’s right, we’re giving you a
sample of the music going on just up the street at Thinking Outside the
Squeezebox 2, The Second Annual National Alternative Accordion
Symposium and Festival.
Thinking
Outside the Squeezebox 2 (September 21-23) is a celebration of the
accordion and an opportunity for musicians to play together, exchange
ideas and explore new music. Traditional accordion music is wonderfully
ethnically diverse. Think Jazz, Rock, Zydeco, Klezmer, Tejano, Polka,
Folk, and Classical accordion music in the same room and you'll have a
better understanding of what the symposium is all about. Learn more and
find a complete schedule of performers--including Dan Newton and Maggie
Martin and the Mad Maggies--at www.outsidethesqueezebox.com.
